About: Passion

I’m a Colorado native. I am passionate about good interface design. So often I think designers / developers don’t create with the end users in mind.  The resonate with the principles behind the book Why Software Sucks by David S Platt.  Professionally, I am a Technology Strategist & Innovator at Mudlogging Systems Inc, in Grand Junction, Colorado.  We recently partnered with Reservoir Group, who is know for being specialists in the industry.  I really love my job, because I have the freedom and resources to pursue things that propel my company and industry forward.  I head up the research and development within Mudlogging Systems Inc.  I help our team maintain & expand our Live Logging & Extranet infrastructure.

I have found that to really be successful, one can’t stay put.  I continually push myself and other people to take the next leap, rather than just the next logical step.  Now that being said, it certainly isn’t easy.  I often meet resistance externally, but know at the end of the day, the end result will be great.  Once I convince myself, and just a few other people of a good idea, then the snowball starts.  Expectations are raised, and implementation is immediately behind.  When people start asking you, “hey, I thought it could do …”, thats when you know you’ve got them.  Now its just up to you to deliver, and you can.  You can google until you find something, keep digging till you find the right answers, right person, right technology.  Its out there you just need to be good at putting the pieces together.

Luckily I have great people around me who remind me about the bigger picture when I go off in the weeds.  Having support enables me to implement a concept with out having to know the details.  Its important to know just enough to convince others that it can be done, but not enough that you spend your time talking about implementation rather than concepts.

Regards,

Eric

Quick Bio:

I grew up in south Denver, Colorado, USA. I completed my Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems at Regis University. I am terribly passionate about logical & functional design.  Application of Technology is where its at.

Living on the Western Slope of Colorado, I get to take advantage of some world class amenities including mountain biking, hiking, and the occasional white water.

Last winter was my first time out on a snowmobile. I toured around the Grand Mesa (the largest flat top mountain in the world). It was a blast and I was able to manuver pretty well despite the low snow totals at the time.

My wonderful wife keeps me grounded and is always ready to provide a fresh perspective.  My kids provide me with wonderment and intrigue as they learn about their world.
